Fratton Bridge Centre blossoms with new planters and tenants

Signalling a new era for Fratton Bridge Centre, two new seating areas and planters brimming with flowers were planted today during a community family activity. This greening effort is part of the ongoing refurbishment programme at the centre, which has also welcomed a new tenant, the Fratton Together Pantry. Fratton Together Pantry provides a vital community space, and a grocery store designed to reduce food bills for residents. They join the Parenting Network who opened last summer. Another new tenant, the Electric Dreamz interactive technology exhibition centre, are currently fitting out another unit to provide educational opportunities for young people.
Revd Canon Bob White, Chair from Fratton Together said: "Fratton Together is delighted to be at the heart of this new opportunity for Fratton. It is important that we are in a visible and accessible location to meet members of the community and hear their needs. Our Fratton Local Pantry has already made a significant difference to local people, and we are looking forward to using the Front Room at 95 Fratton Road to host workshops and drop in sessions"
Councillor Kimberly Barrett, Cabinet Member for Climate Change and Greening the City, commented:
"There is some great work happening at Fratton Bridge Centre. I am delighted to see the refurbishment programme starting to make a difference to the local community. By working together, we are committed to revitalising Fratton's high street."
The Bridge Centre was acquired by the council in September 2023 with funding from the Government's Future High Streets Fund. The refurbishment is part of a wider regeneration effort to enhance the area through improvements to the high street and investments in new homes and employment opportunities.
